Just before the First World War

The ceremonial reception was organized in the town hall, located in the City Hall building in 1914 on June 28, and few minutes after a visit to the City Hall and the city government, Gavrilo Princip assassinated Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sofia.

After this event, the Viennese court was followed by a declaration of war on Serbia, and this event is taken as the cause of the First World War.
